Jesus' Power and Promise
In today's Gospel Reading, Mary and Martha both recognize Jesus as the Son of God and the Christ, but in their grief over the death of their brother Lazarus, they seem to forget the full extent of His power. Jesus reveals that He is the resurrection and the life, promising eternal life in heaven to all who believe in Him. He reminds us that He is not far away from us, but is filled with compassion and personally joins us in our times of trouble. Jesus proves His power over death by calling Lazarus out of the grave, and promises that when He raises us up, all traces of sin will be removed forever.
